    Has anyone had success or stories related to rooting and mod installing a Nexus 7 Tablet? Reviews about Kingoroot or Nexus Root Toolkit? I'm starting the process of turning this geezer into my reader/battlescribe tablet... Lollipop is gone, was considering SlimKat.

    Magisk (https://topjohnwu.github.io/Magisk) is the usual route for rooting nowadays. LineageOS and its derivatives have releases for the Nexus 7 if you want a custom ROM.

    My current issue is getting connectivity with fastboot, haven't even gotten that far yet =/

    ... What does it mean to pre-board? Do you get on before you get on?
