I started a thread about Old Timey Computer Show - so how about LGR aka Lazy Game Reviews? LGR may be another hit for people in this community. Clint does weekly videos on old computers and anything with a wood grain finish to it. If you don't know who he is, check out his videos:

    https://www.youtube.com/@LGR

A few years back he did do a video on a WiFi232 Wireless Modem that featured a couple of BBSs, but the video was more about the modem. I'm not sure if he's done a proper BBS video yet, but maybe.

Maybe Clint is even out there in the echoes? Hello if you are!

I love LGR, however he is to blame for some of my more extravagant retro hardware purposes lol. There's no reason to spend over $500 for an old Gravis UltraSound card, but after watching his vids, I...had to. Alas.

He's surely one of the best around on YouTube. His Woodgrain 486 build is one of my favorites.

Another great video for sure. It's what got me interested in getting back into BBSes. Even made my own little ESP8266 device to get online using my CoCo3.

Ever see any LGR Foods episodes? Highly recommended for some non-computery content from the same creator. Caution: may induce hunger.

I do watch that channel from time to time, and I find it really interesting for someone that actually digs retrocomputing!

It takes me by surprise seeing some of the things that I swear I seen before, such as that little joystick attached to the keyboard, or the Timex Data Clock (that I seen on the Windows 95 CD-ROM I think)

Kinda makes me envious a little bit tho haha - he got lots of space to place these retro-computers, while I can't (without making my living room a mess with all the cabling - damn I should learn to have better cable management!)

Last year (or maybe even 2020) one of his agents set up a BBS for him, called 1984 BBS and I was asked to create a login screen for it, which I did. Clint being the awesome dude he is, wanted to chat with me to say thanks, so we had a convo about it on the BBS, but not too long after that the BBS disappeared and now is nowhere to be seen.

The ANSI login screen I made is available on here in the files section, feel free to have a look and give feedback.

Ah thats too bad its not up anymore. Clint doesn't do Discord I don't think and tends to favor the old vs the new. He should have an "official" LGR BBS full of his content and links to videos, etc - and also an archive of all the tools/old software/etc he uses today, because that stuff is not always easy to find. He does actively put things on archive.org, but a BBS would feel appropriate. I'm sure there are enough sysops around who would be willing to maintain one in his name if he gave his blessing.

Ah, cool, I will have to head over and take a look.

Oh wow, I didn't realize this either, mL - I'll have to spin by and take a l00k. Actually, I do remember the 2nd 1984 bbS that popped up and went down - so maybe I already saw it... there was the original 1984.ws board but I saw a 'new' one around that time.

What kind of video output do you use with your CoCo3? I've been looking for an easy way to use either VGA or HDMI, but the stuff I've come across involves soldering, and I'm a n00b.

I use a NEC Accusync 71v. It's a VGA LCD monitor with support for the 15khz signal from old computers. I just needed to build my own adapter to match the pinout from the CoCo3. I got the monitor on Ebay five years ago back when someone had a new-old-stock supply of them, but they're probably pretty hard to find now.

Have you heard of the Switch-a-roo SCART cable? The guy that makes them has been selling them for years on his cocoman.biz site. Google it. It lets you connect the CoCo3 to any SCART-to-HDMI adapter, which you then connect to any HDMI TV. This is probably the optimal solution anyway since it allows you to switch back and forth between composite and RGB modes, a nice feature to have if you run both CoCo1/2 & CoCo3 software. No soldering since it's pre-made.
