  • interesting hacking tools to be mindful of

    Hey y'all

    I just watched a pretty interesting video from Naomi Brockwell about some hacking hardware she came across while visiting the latest Defcon. I would highly recommend watching the video;

    What are your thoughts on these things and other such devices?
    Has this video given you any new information that you didn't already know?

    For me, I learned out the wifi pineapple/coconut actually work, very interesting to know so I can prevent things like that happening to me and family in the future.

    I have a WiFi Pineapple and have enjoyed using it to create some of the exploits we hear about often... I've setup a phishing site and used Metasploit to create a backdoor on both nix & Windows - all on my own network & hardware - and its neat to use the Pineapple w/ KISMET. Most is above my pay grade, but I like to learn all the things...

    The coconut l00ks even cooler, IMO - as I can only scan [or hop] one at a time. I'm interested in learning more about it - I don't really NEED these devices, nor can I use them professionally like so many ppl DO; but I like to LEARN the exploits that baddies might use @ a Starbucks and see how hard it is to pull off.

    Heck, if anyone buys a coconut I'm willing to swap for a month so we can play w/ m0re hardware. :P

    First learned about these thru Hack5 on youtube. A real clever way to get peoples usernames and passwords. So if you are connecting to networks you are not familiar with , definitely make sure you are being careful, especially if its an open network.
