• Eclipse?

From phigan@25:1/118 to All on Mon Apr 8 18:30:05 2024
The eclipse wasn't very visible over
here in Arizona. It did get a bit
darker (approx 60%!) during the time of
totality everywhere else.. but when I
went outside to take a picture of the
sun, it came out all round in the pic!
Oh well. Already saw a pic someone else
took that was much closer to the
    eclipse's path.

Did any of you see anything cool?

Neither in oregon... it was so overcast here that the 30min 'total eclipse of the mind' was like - nothing happened. Grrrrrr.

I have discord for all the cool eclipse photos, I guess. Yay.

I watched with my kids and we saw the sun get blocked at around 3pm EST, presumably by the moon, and it got darker in NY but not complete darkness though. Not as dark as it shows in photos of previous eclipses. I don't think the eclipse is all it's cracked up to be. To me, it was much more enjoyable seeing Mars from my bedroom window a few years ago. It looked very close and it was awesome. And I was able to look at it for a long time. It looked like 2 moons, but their colors were different.

Wow, I bet that was amazing. Not sure why, but I don't remember this. I must've been drunk! :)

Mars is visible again this year, supposedly. It probably depends on where you live, time of day, etc.

"Mars starts slow in 2024. The red planet is in the morning sky but not easily visible until April. By November, it will be brighter and easy to spot. Jupiter starts 2023 in the evening sky, but only until late March."
    (per google search result.)
