    Grow up.

I had something called Thd-Proscan on my board for awhile, only for its ability to strip out all that shit.

Once I largely stopped accepting uploads it was no longer a problem.

He's just where I get a bunch of my doors from (because he has a nice lister that downloads after you can view a screen shot), but he's too 13 year old crap for still doing this. I just go a purge them, but man it pisses me off some days when I unzip a file and it says -AV failed, file has been tampered with and I see his stupid bbs add in the archive.

LOL - I disagree... storage is 'free' these days. Leave them, and their 28Kb alone! It's cool to get a bbs intro in 2o24 - some of us collect them...

Sure, it sucks when you hoarde 100,000 files from a board that does this - but yer the one sucking their data!!!

I'm all about added .NFO/.EXEs... if you don't like it, don't grab their data balls.

A board in my area became extremely popular all because the Sysop would randomly take the line off-hook, giving the impression of many callers.

Yup been there, done that while raising 3 chilren and working at times
10 to 16 hours on a concept car. But it all starts changing as the kids
grow and feel that don't need Mom & Dad being they are square. Then
they hang with their friends more. But then Mom & Dad have to watch
    them more but from afar.

Hang in there it all changes good or bad, with me it was the bad route.

Ha... I think I only called a few boards in my life, really, only cared enough to look after my own. Never cared to be social with other techie people at the time. But where I was living at the time, had this computer club which I
was encouraged to join. What I remember was they were too weird for "me".

Some longhaired Amiga freak that kept shoving Amiga down everyone's throats, another weirdo into Doom and shoving Doom down everyone's throats... and
this couple who ran a porn board with that stupid TriBBS.... Just a stock board, nothing custom, not even any Ansi menus, they threw up a few smutfiles with barely any callers but to them they thought they were pioneers. Did you know that erotica can be shared online??? Wowzers, imagine the possibilities!

All of them I'm sure have vanished off planet Earth and thats fine with me.

In my (419) there were a few types of boards; PD, scene and mutli-node... I ran a scene BBS, but was enormored on multi-line, paid, BBSes where I met most of my friends, girlfriends and nerds. :P Omni-Link was my favorite; a MajorBBS that had 4 nodes when I joined, moved to 8 in its heyday and had 16+ at the end... they became an early ISP as many multi-node BBSes did when BBSes were winding down, until the big guys took over w/ ISDN and high speed internet.

No, but I do remember 1991-1992, before I got my first offline reader
door. People would hang on for the whole 30 minutes, and as soon as the
person disconnected and the modem reset, I'd see RING come up on the WFC screen. As soon as I loaded a BlueWave door, the amount of time the BBS
    was busy dropped precipitously.

Then came 1996, and the calls fell off a cliff...

I loved that time of busy modem- and ISDN-Lines on a BBS!

But that's not the reason why a sysop simply sets his modem to busy
