• Hello again

From Patch@21:1/101 to All on Thu Sep 14 02:49:16 2023
Hello everyone, been a bit of time since I was here last.

A few year back my Pi suffered a crash and I ended up reinstalling things to get it back online. When I attempted to grab the files from a previous backup of the mystic folder, I was met with 'access denied' when I tried to open the MIS application to configure the BS.

From there other things became a priority in my life (regarding my middle girl, really long story and the ending isn't a fairy tale), which I had to turn my attention to.

Cut to now, I miss my BBS and being part of the community again, so I did a fresh install and the (seemingly) humgous task of setting it all back up again.

The BBS is online at lotw.mywire.org:23016, which as soon as I get my reverse proxy fixed will change, but first things first.

I'd like to ask for help again, trying to recall how I incorporate my old ANSI screens and menu's ... at least this time I have the most updated version so I can keep up with that.

I'm also interested in getting back into message areas, which would make communicating easier from my site when I delve into the configuration again.

Anyhow, hello again and I hope to hear from someone soon I can also be reached at sysop.patch@skiff.com if that's easier. I'm excited!

You probably need to reset the ownership/permissions of the directory/files in question...

    chown -R user:group /path
    and/or
    chmod -R a+rwX /path

Would search to confirm either of the above are correct for you, this is off the top of my head and I don't always remember the syntax right.

    I'm an idiot.

I was trying to get the old BBS working on a Kubuntu installation while the BBS was ran on a Raspberry Pi.
