    Hello to all

I know that many that are going to read this message are probably already doing some form of backup

so my question is, What type of backup are you using it can be anything

    LTO, NAS, cloud, etc

heck can be a audio tape backup like on the old commodore datassette

    I'm asking out of curiosity

I do a simple tar/7zip and then copy it over to my NAS and also upload it to OneDrive & FastMail.

    [backup.sh]
    #!/bin/bash
    cd /home/jay/mystic
    ./mis shutdown
    sleep 15
    ./mis poll killbusy all
    ./mis poll uplink
    ./mutil mailin.ini
    tar cf - /home/jay/mystic/ | 7z a -bd -si /tmp/nrbbs-`date +%F`.tar.7z
    cp -fv /tmp/nrbbs-`date +%F`.tar.7z /mnt/nas/Jay\ Backups/BBS/
    cd /home/jay/.onedrive-uploader
    /usr/local/bin/onedrive-uploader upload /tmp/nrbbs-`date +%F`.tar.7z /
    curl --user $1:$2 -T /tmp/nrbbs-`date +%F`.tar.7z https://myfiles.fastmail.com/BBS%20Backups/ -sw '%{http_code}'
    rm -f /tmp/nrbbs-`date +%F`.tar.7z
    ./mis daemon
    [/backup.sh]

    Heh, I just do xcopy /c /s /m \\networkpc\bbs d:/bbs on a nightly basisand
hope for the best! I back up the VM on a monthly basis. I shouldprobably upload it to onedrive or something offsite... Drive d: is an external.

I use Dar "Disk ARchiver" and backup on to an external hard drive. The backup is replicated to another external hard drive periodically, which is kept off site.

For some of my older machines, I use star (Schilings TAR) to backup as dar can be slow.

Hard drives work for me, I just make sure I have at least two working copies of my backups.

I don't have a lot of files on my BBS so I just copy and past the whole c:\Mystic directory, rename it something like "BBS backup 9-4-23" and store those copies on my main drive or I put them on a CD. Easy.
