• The Weekend

From Avon@21:1/101 to All on Sun Nov 15 19:50:10 2020
We'll over on this side of the globe I'm rolling into a Sunday evening and
the working week beckons. It's nutty to think in about six weeks time we'll
all be celebrating Christmas and not long afterwards a new year. Some say the latter can't come soon enough.

Regardless of which year we all find ourselves in I guess all we can do is
make the best of it and try to say safe and well. I hope that's certainly working out for you as you read this.

Here in New Zealand it's slowly starting to warm up. It's still very
springlike and the temps are still all over the place. But it's warming up enough that we turned off our nightstore heater the other day so the the
power bill will be a bit less for the coming months.

This weekend my wife and I had a busy time outside for a chunk of Saturday. I was edging the flower gardens around the backyard with a spade to create
clear lines between soil and lawn. I then mowed all of our lawns (there's a
bit - well it feels like it :)) and then got started on some weeding.

I also pulled some lettuces that had bolted out of the raised garden bins we use and some similarly bolting silver beet. I'm growing a tomato outside this summer in a pot. Planted it up about 2-3 weeks ago and it will be probably
5-8 weeks before we get a good crop off it. It's variety is called 'Early
Girl' and my wife hassles me I am paying too much attention to this 'other girl' :)

Today (Sunday) was a mix of household chores with some vacuuming and lugging
a few heavy items around as my wife ticked off a to-do aka 'honey do' list
she had set up for the weekend.

We have a friend coming down from the North Island to stay with us for most
of the week. Arrives Wednesday... so you can imagine there's a push on to
have the place tidy and looking OK :)

I also spent some time working on some video clips today for a friend. It's
the first time I have touched the video software in some time indeed. It was fun and I'm feeling more upbeat about returning to some video clips for
BBSing in the months to come.

Right now I am working to do some more for content on fsxnet.nz and hope to have that progressed a bit more this week.

Dinner tonight was accompanied by a James Bond film (and old Rodger Moore
one) and then paying some bills online ;( .. that's never fun - heh :)

Now some admin stuff for fsxNet and then ... who knows!

Welcome to Anna and Tony... hope you guys have fun with your BBS endeavors.

    Best, Paul

Well for me, track season started on the 7th, so I'm back in competition. Unfortunately, an Achilles niggle has affected my performances (but still not far off last year's times at less % effort). I'm taking this week off track training, in an attempt to get myself back to 100%, before attempting the 400m on Saturday. I will cross train on a bike or in the pool instead, and maintain my gym work.

Otherwise, still trying to find a decent SDR that I can install on Linux that I can tweak things with, and tinkrting with other radio stuff. :)

Temperatures are getting into the 30s more often here - summer is getting close. The fire danger period officially starts in 2 weeks time on the 30th.

... If some people said what they thought, they'd be speechless.
