I completely forgot how to subscribe to message groups for FSXnet ... I need
to check what groups I am subscribed to and to make sure I am subscribed to
new groups that AVON just added.

can some please remind me what node I am to net a netmail to and the format?

    Hiya Argos,

I was wondering this myself. But I am contemplating other solutions. What if we:

    - set some message bases to sysop level only, AND on default nonewscan if you really dont want to show them
    - use message area no newscan (default area setting) if you want to hide the message bases by default

This way you get all and globally decide for your users but they could
override if they reallt wanted to.

I have just set this up in my new message reader on my board. Check it out if you want (CTRL-A switches between subbed/all and CTRL-U to unsub/subcribe).

It might be an good option for you too? If I not completely misunderstand you that it ;).

    L8er,
    oP

Mystic has an areafix function built into config (e.g. ./mystic -cfg if you are on linux). It's under Networking > AreafixHelp and it contains all the commands.

You can then send an Areafix email from Networking > Nodes -- highlight your Hub and then do "/1" which is labeled as "Send AreaFix"

    Hope that helps!

When I forgot, I just went to my netmail base and looked for old messages
where I subscribed to FSXnet bases.

But short version is to send a message to "areafix" at your hub (which you
can look up in settings). Then have your areafix password as the subject
(thus also why it's nice to just look at a previous message), and then use various commands like:
    +FSX_GEN
    %LIST
    %UNLINKED
    ---
...and those three dashes tell the bot to stop looking at the message.

I do this too. I take those message areas (particularly fido net required echos I never want to see) and put their access level at 256 so I don't even see them. I also then take any testing, network info, sysop only, from all nets, and assign them to one group and place the access level to 255 (for those I want to read). This eliminates any issue of users seeing any of the back end, while also allowing those systems users that are forced newscan, not to have to read all / abort /etc ... all of those echos.
