From Satchmo@21:4/144 to All on Sat Sep 5 08:41:08 2020
    Hi All,

For those people that use NNTP to access their BBS or messages. What's the best client reader that you have found?

I use tin, but then again I've been using it since 1995. On Windows I used to use FreeAgent but I don't believe it's free any more. Choices are pretty limited. PAN is XNEWS maybe.

I'd forgotten about tin - I did most of my internetting with PINE and
    tin back in the 90s.

Both Thunderbird and SeaMonkey do NNTP; I'm running SM on the BBS,
like the nostalgic Netscape Communicator look.

I find that TB (Thunderbird) is very nice. Groups/Areas can be organized in any
order by just dragging them to the position in the list you want.

Plus I like the handy PGP support in TB with the Enigmail plugin when I need to fire off a truly pvt email.

I have Sylpheed installed too. But I not too familiar with it.

    Satchmo

I like "tin", but it is not for everybody.

If you want a GUI, "pan" is nice enough.

Thunderbird and Seamonkey work ok too.

Many thanks for all your replies.
Some good options there to try!

I must admit, I've been a fan of tin myself. Great little newsreader. Probably one of my first choices still today.

Thunderbird and Seamonkey work ok too.

Agree there too, they're reasonable readers.

I love Forté Agent. OpenXP is great too.
