I keep a western style bandana around my neck and pull it up if the

    with a mask.

I just can't afford plexiglass installations, purchasing hand sanitizers (some of which have been recalled due to containing "industrial strength" alcohol and therefore bad for you), and buying disposable masks!

The trailer park I'm at right now has the STOP notice. He also has
cancelled overnight visits. If you roll up with a camper he sends you
elsewhere. No visitors unless they are members (Grandson is allowed
    though!)

It's not easy that's for sure. The masks I have are washable so I
just chuck the work one in a pot of boiling water for 5 mins when I
get home and hang it up on a towel rack. It's dry by morning.

Do you have a Menards where you live? They have plexiglass cheap, and it
would be as simple as drilling two holes and hanging it from the ceiling between you, your POS system, and the customer. I've found that there are being defiant to wear masks that mock and laugh at those that are, however
for the most part they are the minority -- I've been to a few stores since weather has warmed and people are getting back to work -- I have found most wearing masks but they sure do make it hard to breath. They're much more hot then I expected. I don't envy anyone who is required to wear one as a profession.

As for your sign .. does your state not offer exclusion of liability from somemone catching COVID if they enter your store?

I guess I could ask where other vendors are getting their materials. I
have really old plexiglass sheets on my counter. I could even use one of those but they are bit scratched up over the years.

I just detest being forced to implement shields, guards, masks,
disclaimers, cleaning product for the public. etc. ...when there are practically no re$ources to get them.

Anyway.. today was interesting. Today, I actually had a fairly decent
number of customers. No body was wearing a mask and everyone still
remained respectable of distance and not "speaking moistly"*

*That's a phrase our prime minister use early in March.

I even had a few more special order requests. But I still closed early at 3pm.

There is probably some reasonableness and favour on the side of the law
for store owners. Most places have "STOP.. do not enter IF.." posters. Therefore there is probably some support to preclude liability during this "declared emergency".

I can spend most of my time behind the counter. If I have to assist a customer, I just try to keep my back to them when I need to pass.

I can imagine how tough it would be to purchase any business needs after
being forced to close for as long as you had been. I'm glad things are
getting busier for you!! Hopefully you can extend your hours and get the
word out quickly enough to gain back some lost profits!

We are taking a much more cautious approach to shopping. My wife or I go
alone so we don't have to bring the kids, however I did take them with me to Fresh Tyme when it was almost empty, as they needed to get out of the house. The parks are just too packed right now, even our multi-acre nature center we have close by -- full of teenagers not practicing social distancing -- and "moistly" sweating as they brush up against you. So the kids have been restrited mostly to the neighborhood, riding bikes, or at home. As for me,
I'm "high risk" according to the CDC -- high blood pressure, past acute
kidney failure. SO .. I have to be cautious when out; so I do wear a mask
and black latex gloves. I fit in just fine as most everyone I've seen out is indeed wearing at a minimum a face mask, which is nice. There are a few
20-30 somethings that do not, but must 40+ year olds I see are, as well as teens and kids. I suppose, depending on where you are, if the protests were heavy within your area, I'd be more cautious then a low count community. We are close enough to Indianapolis where there are over 10,000 confirmed cases and daily protests, that I prefer to play it safe. We are still averaging
400 new cases a day, when I remember to check the updates.

Stay safe and I hope you continue to profit!

Bandannas .... I trust someone with a bandanna than I do with one of the
masks that make people look like nurses/surgeons. I've played enough
video games where people where I don't trust anyone wearing medical looking mask.

oh. if you know of any barbera shops where I can get Freddy Kruger
to cut my hair, that wayy it's "social distanced' (even though i believe
the 'social distancing idea is 'b.s. ' yet it is fun to act like i don't . :D If you know anyone who is a barbera and wants to cash in on a niche market, feel free to mention my idea. :D

Nightmare Haircuts and at the door 'whatever you do don't go to sleep'

Might as well make the 'mask thing' fun. I'm deciding on what horror
movie character I want to dress up as. I'm looking at Michael Myaers.

I *was* still operating regular 6days/wk and 7 hrs/day in the 1st month
when the lockdown was proclaimed. The foot-traffic just wasn't enough to stay afloat. Since then, I reduced the hours to 4/day and the days to 4/
    wk.

Even with the recently announced "phase 2" plan to allow more biz to open, people are still reluctant to spend time shopping. But I have seen more
kids being tagged along by adults.

I still don't see a justification to keep the lights on for 7hrs/day 6days/wk. However, this Fri+Sat I started with 11a-4p. But I am still
going to remain closed for Sun+Mon for a while longer. I will probably
still be there physically since there is no shortage of stuff to do there. Even the laneway needs a long overdue 1st mow of the season. :(

The "profit" that trickles in at this time, is not going to be enough to climb out of the hole of debt very fast. It is a huge set-back. The lockdown has caused a debt-load well into the low 5-figures. The bank and credit cards have put a pause on minimum payments, but they are not
putting a pause on latent interest to be collected. Unlike the "we are
all in this together" shit, the banks and credit card companies were the privileged exception.

Wrt staying safe, I'd say that most of us have far exceeded the
recommended 2wk isolation periods. 2.5 months should be long enough for
the virus to be eradicated within one's own community.

That seems to be a common thing with businesses -- I know someone who works
at Whole Foods, and they have various safety things in place, but darned if safety doesn't go right out the window the moment it's inconvenient or would upset a customer.

I assume it's worse at various Amazon distribution places.

Never heard of this one before. Andrea enjoys audio books while she's
