From Arelor@21:2/138 to All on Thu Oct 7 12:27:04 2021
Hello, fans of everything sci-fy, fantastic, or just plain awesome!

Since the magazine I submitted High Tech Necromancy to sucks so much that they have not answered my
queries (nor the ones of most of their authors) I am just releasing the story in my store.

You can read about the the ultmate battle that shall decide the fate of mankind at
    https://store.richardfalken.com

The English version of the story is already up. The Spanish version will be soon.

If you filled for a preorder you will now be able to download your epub.

It *is* indeed a very short story. :( Now I need to learn
    more to the story, pronto!

Meanwhile, I sent you email on some grammatical suggestions.

Simon and Schuster is pushing very tempting ebook prices for
    full novels:

Yeah, I always advertised it as a super short story :-)

The important thing is, did it make you think, feel, try to guess what the heck is
    going on?

Did you want to know more about the Necromancer's world despite the fact the story is
    self-contained?

If so I think I will have succeeded!

(If no I am reporting myself to the food factory in order to recycle myself and be
    somehow useful at least)

You advertise "a short story", not "a SUPER short story" :O

The important thing is, did it make you think, feel, try to
guess what the heck is going on?

Yes.. it felt like a satisfying glimpse of a pilot episode.

Did you want to know more about the Necromancer's world
despite the fact the story is self-contained?

If so I think I will have succeeded!

Hopefully you do have imagined some basis where your characters
come from and their origins. It would be interesting to learn
    more about that universe.

I like the films that start off with an intense scene and show
a glimpse of a possible outcome - and leave you wondering how
did THAT happen, and what happens NEXT. Then, the film rolls
back with "Previously, 3 week ago.." which attempts to fill in
the circumstances that you just witnessed. Then you watch the
film unfold until you reach the familiar point that you saw at
    the start of the film.

(If no I am reporting myself to the food factory in order
to recycle myself and be somehow useful at least)

I would need to witness a few more episodes of your HT
Necromancy world to see if your design works. The first one is
indeed pretty short - and it left a lot of unanswered questions
    in my head.

Hadn't I sent you a draft of The Alpha Human?

Actually, there is an established plan for the series but I also want to keep it a bit like Conan the Barbarian. The Conan stories were shorts you could consume on their own. They left a lot of questions regarding Conan's world but you got a complete story in each.

Right now I am doing somethign really big, but my Inner Circle proofreaders are a bit busy at the moment so efforts are stalled until I get them back.

That does not sound familiar. The only other thing I remember
reading is 3 or 4 pages of some story that involves a character
that bears a horses head or something like that.

Right now I am doing somethign really big, [...]

    12 pages? :D

Ah, then I think I sent you the story about the terrorists trying to blow the Necromancer's space station up.

And no, the one I am working on is a tad bigger than 12 pages.

I look forward to eventually being not-lazy enough to actually get it onto my Tolino and reading through it.

Actually they responded yesterday, but seriously, after more than a year of being in the queue first worldwide publishing rights are not for sale. One has to
    keep dignity.

"Please respond within a year" does seem like a reasonable request, yes.

Well, it is amazing how much content you can put in only 1500 words.

Hah! It is _definitely_ sounding like the active time spent in the process of me getting the book onto the device is going to be significantly longer than the process of reading the story.

All the same, it feels kind of appropriate, for a story I purchased a long while ago and had endlessly delayed due to that publisher taking forever.

And.. and a fine job of that you most certainly do.

BTW.. did your previously-unresponsive publisher give a valid
    reason for the hold-up?

    No.

They rarely tell you anything. They usually send you a form letter which has no meaning. I know by heart the form letters of the big players already and they are the by-the-book definition of "We pretend that we care for you, but we don't, so fuck off."

At least these guys didn't use a form one.
