Hey all

Just playing with MRC for the first time. Looking at some videos online,
there appears to be a plugin called Multi User Chat for Mystic BBS, but can't find any references online to this (yet), just Mystic Relay Chat.

I have Mystic Relay Chat installed, and just experimenting with it at the moment. Are there any active MRC servers running inside fsxNet? Or is just
mine running at the moment? (MRC> bbs.retro16.com:5000)?

Anything else I should know (beyond what's included in the sysop.doc file included?

Make sure your using the latest version of 1.2.9. I connect to mrc.bottomlessabyss.net:5000

Anything else I should know (beyond what's included in the sysop.doc file included?

Keep an eye on the file: mystic/data/mrc/mrcchat.log

You may want to delete it from time-to-time as it'll log everything said in MRC when mrc_client.py is connected, whether you're chatting or not. Mine was 15MB after about 5 months while others reported theirs grew to 70-95MB.

Thanks for the reply, I eventually found Multi Relay Chat 1.2.9 and 1.2.9a
(as in not Mystic Relay Chat 1.0 - which I currently have now)...

I will swap these out shortly.

Hey hey - not running MRC, but running a standard irc server irc.thenet.gen.nz:6667 that is accessible via telnet and a webclient

Thanks for posting that info. i checked my logs and it was 25 megs. i rotated the log, and compressed the old one.

What software is running this, being IRC, can it also talk to a mobile app? That would be preferable...

Can other BBS servers allow cross BBS real time chatter?

I wrote a cross bbs realtime chat some time ago, and a door program to
access it. I've also written a door to log a user into an IRC room.

There are also other more full blown IRC doors like MannIRC (i think it's called)

It hasn't really taken off though, unfortunatly everyone uses MRC which
the modern version the server is not available for anyone to run.

If you have an established IRC channel, then that might work well, but otherwise probably best to connect to MRC, as you'll likely just be
running an empty chat.
