• A fun project - Oregon Trail FORTRAN port (as a door game!)

    From Pat Jensen@21:4/163 to fsxNet.FSX_GEN on Sat Sep 4 21:55:04 2021
I was looking for something fun to do this weekend so I compiled the
original 1978 text based version of Oregon Trail using Fortran to C on NetBSD/amd64. My original intention was to publish it as a port.

After playing with it a bit, I realized it would make a great DOS door
for my Synchronet BBS, Jensencloud, if the redirection worked correctly.
I did some looking around and found a 16-bit precompiled DOS executable.
It turns out once I activated standard console redirection, everything
    worked super smooth.

It is definitely a lot harder and violent then the much newer MECC
version I played on Apple ][ as a kid. I wish they had come up with a multiplayer high score list in 1977. They send you a bill for your funeral!

If you want a little nostalgia, feel free take a look at it on my BBS,
or you can download a pre-built DOS 16-bit binary from here. No BBS
    required.

    Enjoy,
