As seems to happen here.... I have need to resort my prodigious loot stores.
At the same time I also need to re-organise the hardware side of things. I've acquired a "shuttle" box which while neither terribly new or more powerful
than anything I have looks like taking over my server roll with a smaller footprint.

As such TLP will be offline for a bit... at this point, looking at the size
of the job in front of me, I'm feeling somewhat daunted instead of excited by the prospect. So between physical breakdown, size of the job, and effort required I expect to be offline for a week or so.

    Bugger. :(

I hope you're back up and running quickly and cheaply. Certainly know the daunting feeling. Obviously hardware is a huge part of the appeal of
BBSes, but since I last ran one, all the crappy hardware in my house has
    died and/or been thrown out.

So this time round I went for a VM on Digital Ocean. Yeah it's US$5 a
month, but I'm sure I would have spent more than $60 a year in hardware
and power. Plus my router is flaky.

Come to the cloud! Use someone else's computer! ;)

And if you know someone with a Digital Ocean account they can give you a referral code which gives you a couple months free...

Hmm I've always despised the cloud... the data is mine I say! I don't want to put it on someone else hardware somewhere.

Anyhoo, I had something of a win... so I'm keeping my toes crossed things
keep going accordingly. I swapped the system from the "server" into the shuttle box. Behold and low, it boots, so far just had to reset the
networking but aside from that it just works. Still have a mystery Optical
disc failure though. The original didn't work, the replacement worked right
up until the case went back together, and now... nada. Still going to run without it.. So the WWW side of things is back, I still have some work on support vehicles before the BBS is back online.

The loot sorting on the other hand is not progressing much. I did myself a mischief just shuffling the printer around. An old Kyocera FS-1800, worth its weight in gold and near as heavy. So I'm just sticking to the light stuff for now.

    haha fair enough. :)

    Ah nice, you're getting somewhere....

.... even if it's just hobbling along. ;)

Could you sell the Kyocera to pay for the medical bills now?

I jest, I jest.. Hopefully you mend up quickly and redirect your mischief externally.
